Stuff 4 - Horse Manga Fall - Updated 11/09/25
Trying out a digital garden style rolling update for stuff - Maybe that means I’ll shit out more of these, or maybe it means the rss feed will be super annoying
Stuff that's neat:
- Zatanna: Bring Down the House (Tamaki, Rodriguez, et al)
- Mage and the Endless Unknown (Miller)
- i’m coming to accept that the big corporation won’t love me back (Traceitalian)
- My Dress-up Darling Season 2 (Manga - Fukuda Anime - Shinohara/CloverWorks)
- Hurricanes and Boss Fights (Nicanor Gordon)
- Nikke 3rd Anniversary Event: Goddess Fall
- I think this is the best game I’ve played all year.
Uma Musume: Cinderella Gray (Sugiura, Kuzumi)
Horse Manga Fall.
Uma Musume: Star Blossom (Monjuusaki, Hotani)
Horse Manga Fall will continue until morale improves.
Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: Steel Ball Run (Araki)
Horse. Manga. Fall.
Higurashi Chapter 8 - Matsuribayashi Or like, Higurashi in totality (07thExpansion)
Is Higurashi one thing? Two things, Questions arc and Answers arc? Eight things, each chapter a full game worth interrogating in its own right? Or one thing, different from the first thing, that's stretched over more or less for two years of me, interrupted but ongoing, a background buzz of a cicada’s cry?
Higurashi posits that the questions a story offers are often more important than the answers, but goddamn if they don’t have Answers for you anyway.
A thing - two things, eight things - that have constantly kept me guessing, kept me going, and kept me rooting for the mitt-handed kids of Hinamizawa.
Blade II (del Toro)
Not as good tbh. I think its a better, like, sick cool movie, but its also a less interesting sick cool movie. Del Toro’s sensibilities give it all an even visual look - that sort of tarnished, gilded excess he loves is out in full force here - but there’s nothing as heightened as the blood sprinkler rave. The rave here is just in a dope looking abandoned church in Prauge - fuckin laaaaaaameeee, comparatively. It’s a cool time capsule of del toro and donnie yen and norman reedus, but it kind of feels like playing the hits, long before they happened.
Frankenstein (del Toro)
It’s so funny to have someone tell Dr. Frankenstein that he’s the “Real Monster.” I don’t think there's a single thing that could make a line like that work in 2025.
Frankenstein can get it, tho
